Skin care brands need to start thinking about how their products can be more environmentally friendly or more environmentally neutral, according to a new report by research firm PwC.
PwC’s ‘skin care business green’ report is a reminder that, in order to truly live and work in a sustainable way, there are also many steps we can take as consumers to help us achieve a healthier, more sustainable world.
The report comes as more and more people are discovering the benefits of using cosmetics in their daily lives.
It highlights that many brands are beginning to realise that skin care needs to be more sustainable, and there is a need for greater transparency around the way products are made and used.
“The consumer needs to see the full picture and be informed about what is going on behind the scenes in order for them to truly be empowered by the products they use,” PwB senior director of sustainability, Elizabeth McArthur said.
She said consumers also need to be able to trust brands that they are buying from, which is why it’s important that they can find the products that are appropriate for their needs.
